Scientific Restoration Department

The Scientific Restoration Department at the Azerbaijan National Museum of Art was established in 2010. Its primary aim is to carry out restoration and conservation work on material cultural heritage, including paintings, graphics, sculpture, and decorative-applied art housed in the museum's collections.

The laboratory has successfully restored numerous works of Azerbaijani, Western European, Eastern, and Russian art by using modern scientific methods and technologies, including chemistry and physics.

By the order of the Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Azerbaijan and under the direction of Honored Artist and skilled restorer Natig Safarov, the department has also undertaken restoration projects for cultural and public objects throughout Baku and various districts of the Republic of Azerbaijan.
