On January 22nd, the Azerbaijan National Museum of Art hosted a lecture titled “The Memory of Time Written in Color: Mirza Gadim Iravani.”

The lecture was delivered by Ayten Ahmadova, Deputy Director for Research at the Azerbaijan National Museum of Art, PhD in Art History, and co-author of the book “Mirza Gadim Iravani: At the Crossroads of Times.”

The presentation provided an in-depth overview of the life and creative path of Mirza Gadim Iravani, a prominent representative of 19th-century Azerbaijani visual art, the historical and cultural environment in which he developed, and the key characteristics of his artistic style.

Based on the results of research conducted during the preparation of the book, the lecture thoroughly examined the historical context of the artist’s works, their artistic and aesthetic qualities, and layers of symbolic meaning. Held in the exhibition hall, the lecture offered the audience an opportunity to explore Mirza Gadim Iravani’s creative legacy more deeply through the lens of his unique artworks.

At the conclusion of the lecture, which was met with great interest, Doctor of Philology, Professor Asgar Zeynalov—who has carried out valuable research on the legacy of Mirza Gadim Iravani—took the floor and shared his reflections on the artist’s personality and oeuvre.

The event gained special significance with Professor Asgar Zeynalov’s donation of his book “The Intellectuals of Iravan” to the museum.
