The project of the Azerbaijan National Museum of Art "Fireplaces of the Palace of De Boure" carried out at this stage in partnership with Rossotrudnichestvo, the Russian House within the framework of their project "Mission Dobro" "Inspirers. The forum is time for good deeds" started on December 4. It is aimed at studying and attributing tiled stoves and fireplaces of the De Boure Palace, where the Azerbaijan National Museum of Art is housed since 1951. Today the Palace is one of the museum`s buildings. The goal is to study these artifacts in the context of the cultural and historical factor, which can be traced against the background of the rapid construction of European-style mansions during the era of the first oil boom at the turn of two centuries - the 19th and 20th, and this rather narrow topic opens up a very wide layer of cultural and historical ties.
Based on the results of the research in ANMA, an excursion text and a book will be prepared, which will include an archive and a scientific interpretation by specialists from St. Petersburg. During the stay of experts from the Keramarch Museum in Baku, measurements were taken and marks on most of the fireplaces and stoves of the palace were found. Along with this, meetings and inspections of stoves in other historical buildings and apartments in Baku were organized.
Of special note is the visit to the Union of Architects of Azerbaijan and the meeting with its chairman Elbay Gasimzadeh, who expressed interest in cooperation. The meeting between the director of ANMA Shirin Melikova and invited experts with Sabina Hajiyeva, the head of the State Service for the Protection, Development and Restoration of Cultural Heritage under the Ministry of Culture of Azerbaijan, was very productive, during which invaluable materials from the museum’s construction archives and measurements of stoves were provided.
Then representatives of "Keramarch" museum visited the Museum of History of Azerbaijan located in historic building – Palace of Haji Zeynalabdin Taghiyev, the Maksud Ibrahimbeyov Creativity Centre, The House-Museum of Nariman Narimanov, working cabinet of millionaire Budagov.
A famous architect, architectural historian of Baku Elchin Aliyev joined the project with his huge archive. The project aroused a great interest in society and this shows that it will become the beginning of broader study of this topic.
