On April 18, the Azerbaijan National Museum of Art hosted the presentation of the children’s book In Search of the Magic Carpet by artist, illustrator, and writer Katya Sokolova-Zizak, along with a meeting with the author. The book was written and beautifully illustrated by the author herself.
Director of the Azerbaijan National Museum of Art, Shirin Melikova, welcomed the guests and spoke about the history of the book’s creation, its notable qualities, and Katya Sokolova’s deep interest in Azerbaijani national art.
The event continued under the curatorship of art historian and PhD in Philosophy, Teymur Daimi. Katya Sokolova answered questions from the audience regarding the book, as well as her life and creative work. In her speech, she expressed her gratitude to the Azerbaijan National Museum of Art for organizing the presentation and the warm meeting with readers.
It is worth noting that the book tells the story of two feline friends traveling to Baku in search of a magical carpet and the secrets of this ancient art. Through this fairytale adventure full of excitement and fun, children are introduced to the rich heritage of Azerbaijani carpet weaving.
