On January 14, the Azerbaijan National Museum of Art hosted the first concert program of the new year titled “Meridians III” as part of the “Music in the Museum” project.

The concert was dedicated to the 150th anniversary of the birth of the great French composer Maurice Ravel. Curated by Aghdes Bagirzade, the program featured works by outstanding representatives of the world’s musical heritage — Maurice Ravel, Gabriel Fauré, Nikolai Rimsky-Korsakov, Alexander Borodin, and George Gershwin.

The performers were Farida Mammadova (soprano) and Yuliya Karimova (piano).

The concert attracted great interest from a large audience. The musical journey, beginning in the impressionist-rich worlds of Ravel and Fauré and continuing through Russian classical music and Gershwin’s jazz-infused rhythms, allowed listeners to experience the harmony of diverse musical genres.
