On October 5th, 2025, on the occasion of World Teachers’ Day, the Azerbaijan National Museum of Art hosted an event titled “In the Light of Enlightenment: Mirza Mahammad Zamanbeyli,” dedicated to the 165th anniversary of the birth of the prominent educator, public figure, and philanthropist Mirza Mahammad Zamanbeyli.

On October 5th, 2025, on the occasion of World Teachers’ Day, the Azerbaijan National Museum of Art hosted an event titled “In the Light of Enlightenment: Mirza Mahammad Zamanbeyli,” dedicated to the 165th anniversary of the birth of the prominent educator, public figure, and philanthropist Mirza Mahammad Zamanbeyli.
The event reflected on the bright life and legacy of M.M. Zamanbeyli, who devoted his entire life to the independence and enlightenment of his people. Among the speakers were Doctor of Pedagogical Sciences, Professor Rufat Huseynzade; Doctor of Pedagogical Sciences, Professor Zahra Muradova; great-granddaughter of Mirza Mahammad Zamanbeyli — President of the Azerbaijan Pediatric Association, PhD in Medicine, Associate Professor Tarana Taghizade; independent researcher Anar Zamanbeyli; and representative of the Kangarli family, Honored Cultural Worker Senuber Karimova. They spoke about M.M. Zamanbeyli’s significant contributions to the development of Azerbaijani education and culture, as well as the enlightenment ideas of his time.
During the speeches, respectful tributes were paid to M.M. Zamanbeyli’s children — renowned educators Qafar Zamanov and Khurshud khanum Zamanbeyli Ahmadova, who were among the teachers of the National Leader Heydar Aliyev — as well as to Latif Huseynzade. Honored Teacher Rufat Latif oglu Huseynzade donated his book “The Most Honorable Profession on Earth: Teaching” to the museum’s library.
The event also featured two portraits donated to the museum by the Zamanbeyli family — “Portrait of Mirza Mahammad Zamanbeyli” and “Portrait of Confectioner Karbalayi Heydar.” The scientific secretary of the Azerbaijan National Museum of Art, Nurana Salimli, provided information about these portraits, painted by the eminent Azerbaijani artist B. Kangarli.
The event concluded with the screening of a video highlighting the life and rich legacy of the great intellectual and educator M.M. Zamanbeyli.
