On November 13, as part of the “Lectorium at the Museum” project, a lecture titled “Painting and Costumes: The Psychology of Clothing in Art” was held at the Azerbaijan National Museum of Art.
The lecture was presented by Sevıl Aliyeva, PhD in Art Studies and fashion designer. The event focused on how clothing throughout history has reflected a person’s character, emotions, and the ideals of its time.
Through analyses of paintings from the Renaissance to the modern era, participants explored the hidden meanings behind clothing details, the psychological impact of colors, and the role of dress in shaping aesthetic thinking. The lecture also highlighted how clothing “speaks” about a person’s inner world and what signs it gives about their social status and psychological state.
Interactive tasks and tests held at the end of the event gave participants the opportunity to test and further strengthen their knowledge about the language of color and clothing.
The event concluded with numerous questions from the audience and engaging discussions on the topic.
