On October 25, within the framework of the “Lectorium in the Museum” project, the Azerbaijan National Museum of Art hosted a lecture titled “The Art of Felt: The Magic of Hands.”
The lecture was delivered by Sevil Aliyeva, PhD in Art Studies, fashion designer, and artist. The event focused on the history of the ancient craft of felt-making, its creation process, and its modern applications.
The program also featured presentations by Mehriban Aliyeva, fashion designer and member of the Union of Artists of Azerbaijan and the Academy of Arts of Uzbekistan, as well as felt artists and fashion designers Maya Babayeva and Naila Karimova, who showcased their creative works.
Attendees learned fascinating details about ancient felt-making techniques, the development of felting traditions in Azerbaijan, and contemporary artistic interpretations of this craft.
The event concluded with a fashion show presenting designer garments created by the participating artists.
