As part of the “Lecture in the Museum” series at the Azerbaijan National Museum of Art, a talk titled “Beauty Woven from Secrets: Turkmen Carpets and Carpet Products” was held.
In her presentation, Konul Zeynalova, head of the museum’s Embroidery Department, spoke about the Turkmen carpet-weaving tradition, which has a history spanning thousands of years. She provided detailed information on the technological features, artistic and aesthetic qualities, and symbolic meanings of the ornaments found in carpets and carpet products made by the Salor, Tekke, Yomut, and other tribes. The lecture emphasized the unique patterns of Turkmen carpets, their tribal traditions, and the significance of this craft within Turkic-Muslim culture.
The talk was met with great interest by the audience and was followed by interactive discussions.
