On May 16, the Azerbaijan National Museum of Art hosted a meeting and master class titled “The Artistic Path of Mirza Gadim Iravani — Founder of National Easel Painting,” dedicated to the 200th anniversary of the prominent artist.
On May 16, the Azerbaijan National Museum of Art hosted a meeting and master class titled “The Artistic Path of Mirza Gadim Iravani — Founder of National Easel Painting,” dedicated to the 200th anniversary of the prominent artist.
Held within the framework of International Museum Day (May 18), the event featured a lecture by art historian Mehbara Abbasova, who spoke in detail about Mirza Gadim Iravani’s life and creative journey, his artistic style, and his contribution to Azerbaijani visual art. She elaborated on the innovations he introduced to the portrait genre, as well as his work in monumental and easel painting and graphic art.
During the master class, Samir Talibov, an artist from the Scientific Restoration Department of the museum, simultaneously painted a live reproduction of Iravani’s work “The Rose and the Nightingale.”
The event attracted great interest, and at its conclusion, the reproduction of this exquisite artwork was presented as a gift to an international visitor of the museum.
