On March 14, the Azerbaijan National Museum of Art opened the exhibition "Floral Breeze", dedicated to the Novruz holiday.

The exhibition features over 30 still-life paintings depicting flowers, selected from the museum's collection, most of which are being displayed for the first time. It is worth noting that still life has always been a beloved genre among Azerbaijani artists. Both masters representing the leading artistic styles of their time and those inclined towards avant-garde movements have turned to this genre. As a result, the exhibition showcases both classical realism and the distinctive approach of modernist artists.

For the first time, the exhibition presents works by prominent artists such as Salam Salamzade, Taghi Taghiyev, Abdulkhaliq, Davud Kazimov, Tofiq Javadov, Khalida Safarova, Nazim Babayev, as well as Irina Kognivitskaya, a close relative of Nikola von der Nonnen, the architect of the historic buildings of the Azerbaijan National Museum of Art.

The exhibition also includes, for the first time, replicas of exquisite floral compositions from the Sheki Khan’s Palace. These unique artworks, originally created by master Gambar Karabagi, were reproduced in the 1930s–1940s by Vera Kvitko and Zinaida Bogoslovskaya-Kosichkina, who made significant contributions to the development of Azerbaijani fine arts.

In addition to still lifes, the exhibition features works by renowned sculptors Gorkhmaz Sujaddinov, Ibrahim Zeynalov, Akif Asgarov, Sahib Guliyev, and Teymur Rustamov, celebrating the spirit of spring renewal.

One of the most memorable moments of the exhibition is "Flowers" by People's Artist Davud Kazimov, where the flowers seem to break free from the canvas, transforming into a real-life still life.

The exhibition includes two QR codes: one for downloading the e-catalog and another for participating in a visitor survey. Through the survey, attendees can share their feedback and suggestions about the exhibition.

The exhibition will run until April 30.
