The exhibition titled “Traces an Artistic Path: The Creative World of Jahangir Rustamov”, organized jointly by the Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Azerbaijan and the Azerbaijan National Museum of Art, features more than 40 works by the artist. These works, selected from the museum’s collection, the Azerbaijan State Art Gallery, and private collections, represent various periods of his artistic career.

In the halls arranged by thematic sections, portraits, still lifes, and thematic paintings occupy a special place. The early stage of the artist’s creativity dates back to the post–World War II years. In works such as “Welcoming the Hero”, “The Last German”, and “Cotton Harvest”, displayed in the exhibition, his distinctive style and artistic explorations are clearly evident. From the 1950s onward, the artist turned to portraiture and everyday life themes; works such as “Portrait of Huseyn Gafarov”, “Balcony”, “Baku”, “Little Helper”, and “Family Joy” hold a special place in the exhibition and reflect the beginning of a new phase in his creativity.

The exhibition also features paintings dedicated to rural life, which holds an important place in Jahangir Rustamov’s work. Through the language of painting, the artist conveys observations gathered from different regions of Azerbaijan, presenting the lives of hardworking people in a realistic and emotional manner. Works devoted to the theme of women’s labor, such as “Green Tea Plantation”, “Collective Farmers”, and “Field Workers”, stand out as examples reflecting a lyrical mood and the harmony of national color.

The exhibition also includes works created as a result of the artist’s travels abroad. Impressions from his trips to France and Tunisia found artistic expression in paintings such as “The Louvre”, “Female Students”, “Near Carthage”, and “Girls of Kairouan”.

The exhibition will be open to visitors until May 31, 2026.
