On October 29, an event dedicated to Mexico’s traditional “Day of the Dead” celebration was held at the Azerbaijan National Museum of Art, in collaboration with the Embassy of Mexico in Azerbaijan.

The ceremony was attended by prominent cultural figures as well as heads and representatives of the diplomatic corps accredited in the country. The Ambassador of Mexico to Azerbaijan, Victoria Romero, delivered a speech about the meaning and history of the “Day of the Dead” and emphasized that such events play an important role in strengthening cultural cooperation between the two countries. She also noted that, in essence, this celebration resembles the Novruz holiday observed in Azerbaijan, and announced that further events will be held within the framework of the exhibition “Diego Rivera: The Promise of a Better Future.”

During the event, a master class was organized for students of School-Lyceum No. 6 named after T. Ismayilov and other children. They colored drawings related to the holiday with their favorite paints and later, wearing masks, danced to songs dedicated to the “Day of the Dead.”

Guests of the event had the opportunity to learn more about Mexico’s symbolic folk traditions and, in general, gain insight into the country’s rich cultural heritage and vibrant artistic customs.

It should be noted that the exhibition “Diego Rivera: The Promise of a Better Future,” dedicated to the work of the famous Mexican artist, is currently open to visitors at the Azerbaijan National Museum of Art.
