On September 11, 2026, a panel discussion titled "Mikayil Abdullayev: Journeys, Memories, Legacy" was held at Gazelli Art House in Baku, dedicated to the life and work of Mikayil Abdullayev, a prominent representative of 20th-century Azerbaijani fine art.

The meeting, organized as part of the exhibition "Mikayil Abdullayev: Light of Distant Roads," featured Shirin Malikova, Director of the Azerbaijan National Art Museum and Doctor of Philosophy in Art History, People's Artist Farhad Khalilov, and curator Nigar Rzayeva. The discussion was moderated by Zeynab Jahan, with the artist's son, Jami Abdullayev, appearing as a special guest.

In her remarks, Shirin Malikova emphasized the importance of a fresh perspective on Mikayil Abdullayev's artistic legacy and personality. She noted that the exhibition and panel discussion allow the artist to be recognized not only as a master honored with prestigious titles and awards, but also as a personality shaped by a complex historical period.

During the panel, participants exchanged views on the various stages of the artist's creative path, his foreign trips and their influence on his work, his portraiture, and his activity in the field of monumental art.
