On April 15, the Azerbaijan National Museum of Art hosted an event dedicated to the memory of the prominent sculptor, People’s Artist Kamal Alakbarov, along with the presentation of the book “Sculpture” devoted to his work, and “Neon Painting/Graphics” by artist Farid Alakbarov.

On April 15, the Azerbaijan National Museum of Art hosted an event dedicated to the memory of the prominent sculptor, People’s Artist Kamal Alakbarov, along with the presentation of the book “Sculpture” devoted to his work, and “Neon Painting/Graphics” by artist Farid Alakbarov.

Among the speakers were the artist’s wife Gulara Alakbarova, his son and founder of the “Farhouse” Neon Art Museum Farid Alakbarov, Deputy Director for Research at the museum and PhD in Art History Aytan Ahmadova, as well as People’s Artists Fuad Salayev and Salhab Mammadov.

It was noted in the speeches that Kamal Alakbarov holds an important place in Azerbaijani sculpture, expressing the depth of human character and spiritual strength in his monumental and easel works through a refined artistic language. His rich artistic legacy, which occupies a distinctive place in national visual art, remains relevant today.

It was also emphasized that the publications presented within the framework of the event serve as valuable sources for art lovers and researchers.

Special attention was given to the continuation of the artist’s legacy within his family: it was highlighted that his son Farid Alakbarov preserves these traditions while developing them in a contemporary direction. It was noted that neon art occupies an important place in his work, where new forms of artistic expression are created through the synthesis of light, color, and technology.

The artistic part of the event featured musical pieces favored by Kamal Alakbarov as well as classical compositions, and poetry was performed by recitation artist Kamran Yunis.

The program also included a video dedicated to the work of Farid Alakbarov.

The event was warmly received by the audience and left a lasting positive impression.
