On October 22, the Azerbaijan National Museum of Art (ANMA) hosted a presentation ceremony of postage stamps issued by “Azerpost” LLC, a company under AZCON Holding, at the initiative of the museum, to commemorate the 200th anniversary of the prominent artist Mirza Gadim Iravani.

The event was attended by distinguished figures of science and culture, members of parliament, as well as heads and representatives of the diplomatic corps accredited in Azerbaijan.
Opening remarks were delivered by Shirin Malikova, Director of the Azerbaijan National Museum of Art, and Sitara Huseynova, Head of the Stamp Department at “Azerpost” LLC.
In their speeches, they highlighted the Decree of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Ilham Aliyev, on the state-level celebration of Mirza Gadim Iravani’s 200th anniversary in 2025, emphasizing that this decision represents a significant step toward preserving, studying, and promoting the legacy of the great artist.
They also noted that the issued postage stamps are a valuable contribution to the anniversary year.
Later, a stamp cancellation ceremony was held with the participation of Murad Huseynov, Deputy Minister of Culture of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Isi Mustafayev, Acting Chairman of the Board of “Azerpost” LLC, and Shirin Malikova, Director of the Azerbaijan National Museum of Art.
The stamps feature several of Mirza Gadim Iravani’s renowned portraits, including “Soldier,” “Mah Talat Khanum,” “Portrait of a Noblewoman,” “Vajihulla Mirza,” and “Fath-Ali Shah.”
These masterpieces, representing different periods of the artist’s career, showcase innovative qualities for their time — not merely external likeness but also the vivid depiction of individual character and inner depth.
It should be noted that during the presentation, the original portraits from the collection of the Azerbaijan National Museum of Art were displayed.
The evening concluded with a concert of the Ensemble of Ancient Musical Instruments under the artistic direction of People’s Artist Munis Sharifov, operating under the State Museum of Musical Culture of Azerbaijan, who presented guests with an unforgettable program of traditional music.
