On September 28, the Azerbaijan National Museum of Art hosted the presentation of the book “Abstract Vector in Art” by visual art theorist and PhD in Art Studies, Elchin Shamilli.

In her speech, the Director of the Azerbaijan National Museum of Art, Shirin Malikova, emphasized that theoretical research in the field of art studies is quite rare, which makes this book particularly interesting and important. She wished the author success in his future work and noted that continuing his research on Azerbaijani visual art within a global context would be especially valuable.

The author presented the main points of the book, providing detailed insights into the historical roots of abstraction and its role in contemporary art. Through visual materials, participants explored the nuances of abstraction — from ancient rock carvings and Turkic carpet patterns to the symbolic expressions found in sacred sculptures.

Art enthusiasts, researchers, and guests interested in abstraction actively engaged in discussion, asking questions and exchanging ideas with the author.
