On May 13, the Azerbaijan National Museum of Art hosted a musical evening titled “Following the Footsteps of Arif Melikov…” as part of the “Music at the Museum” project, dedicated to the творчество of the outstanding composer and People’s Artist Arif Melikov.

The event featured performances by Honored Artist, Doctor of Philosophy in Art Studies, and countertenor Ilham Nazarov, as well as pianists Daniil Kirillov and Anna Rasina.

The performers presented selected works from Arif Melikov’s rich musical heritage, along with romances by contemporary composers who continue his artistic tradition.

The concert program also included romances by Lala Jafarova, Arzu Mammadova, Elza Seyidjahan, Jeyhun Allahverdiyev, Kamala Alizade, Sevda Rahimova, Pike Akhundova, Tamilla Ahadova, and Vusal Namazli.

The musical evening offered listeners an opportunity to rediscover the creative world of Arif Melikov, trace artistic connections between different generations of the Azerbaijani school of composition, and experience contemporary interpretations of classical musical traditions.

The evening was met with great interest and enthusiastic applause from the audience.
